CFEd® - Certified Financial Educator

The CFEd® designation is an advanced, registered designation for professionals with at least three years of experience in financial services. It is awarded to individuals who have a proven track record in educating adult learners, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulators, and demonstrating a commitment to financial literacy.

‍How to Obtain the CFEd® Designation:

1. Apply online for the designation.
2. The Heartland Institute reviews your application for approval. Upon approval and payment, you receive all self-study materials and exam instructions.
3. Take and successfully pass the CFEd® Proctored Exam to earn your certification.

‍Cost: $100 per month

AFEd - Associate Financial Educator

The AFEd certification is designed for professionals with less than three years of experience in financial services, including advisory, mortgages, insurance, and estate planning. This designation provides a fundamental understanding of essential financial education and planning principles, helping professionals establish a career as financial educators.

‍How to Obtain the AFEd Designation:

1. Apply online for the designation.
2. Complete the provided online study materials at your own pace.
3. Take and successfully pass the AFEd Online Exam to earn your certification.

‍Cost: $50 per month

Existing CFEd® – Registry Renewal & Completion

This option is for individuals who have previously applied for the CFEd® designation and either:

• Need to renew their designation and be added to the official registry.
• Have paid the full fee but haven’t yet completed the training.

‍Cost: $45 per month for the first 12 months, then $100 per month thereafter.

‍Ensure your CFEd® designation remains active, recognized, and up to date by maintaining your listing in the official registry.
